Queer Iftar

19:00 – 21:15
Date May 6
Guest speaker: Muhsin Hendricks
We are approaching the last week of the holy month of Ramadan. From Colored Qollective we organize a digital queer iftar with a substantive meeting that will delve deeper into the meaning of this month for queer Muslims; how is Ramadan viewed from a queer Muslim perspective? How does this month affect the loneliness that many of us are already experiencing and how can this be dealt with? We are honored to receive the first open queer Imam in the world: Muhsin Hendricks
Following the substantive meeting, we will jointly break the fast for those who want it. From Colored Qollective, food will be provided in time, so that everyone who wants to be there can break the fast together with us.
Are you interested and would you like to be there? Then sign up via the 'sign up' button above or send a message via our website: https://www.coloredqollective.org/contact/

Agape; queer love?!
Happy Valentine's Day
Coloured Qollective would like to invite you to a very intriguing event on Saturday 27 February 2021, from 15:00-17:30. The theme for this event is "Agape: queer love ?!," where we will discuss the facets of love, the ups and downs, as well as the dignity of our sexual orientations.

Valentine's Day is a date set aside within the year for even more affection, for some it is seen as an opportunity for commercially motivated companies to offer their products to consumers, and for others it is only a moment to engage in sentimental, romantic gestures.
Maybe it's just a Meh moment for some of you! You are welcome to join us for an afternoon of joyful experiences and displays of what love means in its many forms and how that manifests itself within the LGBTQIA+. We would like to remind you to like and follow our pages on Facebook and Instagram
.

January

(Inter)national congress Colored Qollective

On Thursday 21 and Friday 22 January, the Colored Qollective Foundation organizes an (inter)national digital symposium aimed at queer people of color.
The primary goal of this symposium is to provide a platform and stage to the group where we will mainly discuss decolonization processes within queer communities of color. Unfortunately, queer people of color are still far too often under-represented and we get little or no access to platforms, resources and facilities intended for us.

With this symposium we not only offer the necessary space for queer people of color, but also more complex conversations will take place in the context of decolonization and dismantling of power structures. All this will be approached from a perspective of intersectionality.

For whom?
This symposium is open to anyone who has an interest and affinity with the subject here. Of course, (the experiences of) queer people of color are central. In addition, we invite activists, interest groups, healthcare workers, policy makers and researchers to participate in this symposium, in which we explicitly call on students and employees of Utrecht University to register.

The first day of the symposium takes place in Dutch and the second day in English. During the program there will be a sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired and the deaf.
