POCQUnity: (free) services for LGBTQIA+ people of color
Specialized services for and by LGBTQIA+ people of color in the Utrecht region
Since January 2020 Colored Qollective, a new foundation for and by LGBTQIA+ people and refugee fellows of color, has entered into a new collaboration with the Municipality of Utrecht, under the project called 'POCQUnity'. This service project aims to provide a safe, anonymous and accessible environment for LGBTQIA+ visitors and fleeing fellow people of color. In addition, these visitors are also guided and supported in finding the right trajectories and referrals.
With a perspective on intersectionality (intersectional thinking), experienced and knowledgeable service providers are present who are in conversation with all kinds of core concepts that concern the community. Some examples of this are gender diversity, dysphoria, mental health, but also, for example, socio-cultural conflicts and discrimination based on race/ethnicity and/or sexuality.
"This is another step in the right direction and thus promotes the emancipation of marginalized groups in the Utrecht region", says the chairman of Colored Qollective.

Who's Nur?
"My name is Nur Aydin (she/her) and I recently started working as a psychosocial service provider at Colored Qollective. In addition to my work as a psychologist, I am very involved in social topics and developments. I think it is important that mental health services and other aid agencies become more accessible and safer from marginalised identities within society. Hopefully, at Colored Qollective, I can make a positive contribution to strengthening and strengthening the queer community of color. "
