POCQUnity: (free) services for LGBTQIA+ people of color
Specialized services for and by LGBTQIA+ people of color in the Utrecht region
Since January 2020 Colored Qollective, a new foundation for and by LGBTQIA+ people and refugee fellows of color, has entered into a new collaboration with the Municipality of Utrecht, under the project called 'POCQUnity'. This service project aims to provide a safe, anonymous and accessible environment for LGBTQIA+ visitors and fleeing fellow people of color. In addition, these visitors are also guided and supported in finding the right trajectories and referrals.
With a perspective on intersectionality (intersectional thinking), experienced and knowledgeable service providers are present who are in conversation with all kinds of core concepts that concern the community. Some examples of this are gender diversity, dysphoria, mental health, but also, for example, socio-cultural conflicts and discrimination based on race/ethnicity and/or sexuality.
"This is another step in the right direction and thus promotes the emancipation of marginalized groups in the Utrecht region", says the chairman of Colored Qollective.

Who's Nur?
"My name is Nur Aydin (she/her) and I recently started working as a psychosocial service provider at Colored Qollective. In addition to my work as a psychologist, I am very involved in social topics and developments. I think it is important that mental health services and other aid agencies become more accessible and safer from marginalised identities within society. Hopefully, at Colored Qollective, I can make a positive contribution to strengthening and strengthening the queer community of color. "
Consultation hour: Wednesday from 12:00-14:00.
Phone/Whatsapp: 0618147870
The consultation hour is intended for short questions or a short introduction, after which an appointment can be made beforefurther contact. Further appointments can be flexibly planned and the waiting times are not long.

Heel erg bedankt!

I can't really describe how amazing Nur has been for me, she is thoughtful, caring and helped me learn a lot of things about myself and my surroundings that most (young) queer poc aren't aware of growing up. CQ is a beautiful, accessible and necessary organisation, I'm happy I found it.

I had very warm and fun conversations with Nur, she helped me a lot when I was feeling really anxious and low. Together we looked at what kind of therapy/therapist would suit me best, I feel way more confident now to go into the whole process. Thanks so much Nur!

Thanks Colored Qollective for the initiative of POCQUnity! I am so thankful of Nur. Her presence in general invited me to a calm that was difficult for me to have, while she always had a kind word to share. She also gave me practical orientation on many of the issues I am facing. Totally recommend!

Nur is an amazing, empathetic and skillful therapist and in the short period of few months I was able to make incredible progress because I felt a lot more comfortable working with a queer POC therapist.

Talking to Nur was the first time I felt fully comfortable and understood opening when opening up to a professional. She supported me for a few sessions, and forwarded me to a great therapist who I am currently working with. I also really appreciated her checking up on me afterwards. Thank you Nur!
